How does this calculator work?

Use either block depending on whether you want to send (how much you pay) or receive (how much should arrive). Enter numbers only in the fields.

  • Decimals: you may use comma or dot (e.g. 20,75 or 20.75).
  • Default values: 5.4% + $0.3 are loaded when opening the calculator. Change them in Advanced options if your country uses a different rate.

Gross vs Net — The gross amount is what is sent before fees. The net amount is what you receive after fees are deducted.

Quick examples

  • If you receive $100.00 gross, you will get ~$94.30 (using the shown rate).
  • If you want $100.00 net, the payer should send ~$106.03 (approx., using the shown rate).

How much does PayPal charge in fees?

PayPal fees depend on the transaction type, country, and currency. For international transactions in Latin America, the typical fee is 5.4% + $0.30 USD per transaction. In the US, commercial transactions are charged 3.49% + $0.49 USD.

For example, if you receive $100 USD from abroad, PayPal will deduct approximately $5.70 USD (5.4% + $0.30), so you would receive about $94.30 USD net. Use our calculator above to simulate any exact amount.

PayPal fees by region

  • Latin America: 5.4% + $0.30 USD
  • United States: 3.49% + $0.49 USD
  • Europe: 2.90% + €0.35
  • United Kingdom: 2.90% + £0.30

These fees are for reference only. PayPal may update them. Check the official page for your country.

How to avoid PayPal fees?

For personal transfers, use "Friends and Family" with your PayPal balance or bank account — it's free for domestic transfers.

For commercial payments, fees are unavoidable but you can reduce their impact: use standard bank transfers instead of instant withdrawals, and consolidate payments into fewer transactions.

Important: there is no legitimate way to avoid PayPal fees on commercial payments without violating PayPal's terms of service.

FAQ

How do I use the calculator?

Enter the amount you pay (send) or the amount you want to receive (receive). The calculator will show the fee and the corresponding gross/net amount.

What are the default fees?

By default we use 5.4% + $0.3 per transaction as an example. Actual PayPal fees vary by country, account type and currency. These fees are charged by PayPal and will be deducted from the transaction — this calculator provides an estimate only.

Who pays the PayPal fee?

It depends: for goods and services payments the recipient (seller) normally bears the PayPal fee, while for personal transfers the rules may differ. In any case PayPal applies the fee to the transaction, so either the sender or the recipient will ultimately pay; confirm who covers the fee before sending.

What is the fixed fee?

In addition to the percentage, PayPal adds a fixed fee that depends on the currency (for example, $0.3). You can change that amount in Advanced options.

Does PayPal charge for currency conversion?

No. This tool does not apply exchange rates or conversion margins. If a payment requires currency conversion, PayPal may add an additional margin on top of the exchange rate, and that cost will be charged as part of the transaction.

What is the difference between personal and commercial transactions?

Commercial transactions (sale of goods/services) usually have seller-specific fees. Personal transfers (friends and family) may have other conditions and limits, but PayPal can still charge fees on personal payments; someone (sender or recipient) will bear those charges, so confirm before sending.

Where can I find official fees?

Check PayPal’s official fees page for detailed rates by country and currency. This calculator provides a quick estimate and does not replace the official documentation.

How much does PayPal charge for $100?

If receiving $100 USD via international commercial transaction, PayPal deducts ~5.4% + $0.30 = ~$5.70. You'd receive ~$94.30 net. Calculate any exact amount above.

How much does PayPal charge in Venezuela?

PayPal charges 5.4% + $0.30 USD for receiving money in Venezuela, the same as in Latin America. Withdrawals to Venezuelan banks may have extra restrictions.

How much does PayPal charge for sending money?

PayPal doesn't charge when sending as "Friends and Family" with balance or bank account. Card funding: ~2.90% + $0.30. Commercial payments use seller rates.
